Brightspace, Blackboard Ultra & Schoology
ReadingVox installs natively in Canvas and Moodle. In Schoology, D2L Brightspace, Blackboard Ultra, Google Classroom, students use it today through the ReadingVox Chrome extension. Native integrations for these platforms aren't available yet.
What works today
| LMS | Native install | Via Chrome extension |
|---|---|---|
| Canvas | Yes | Also works |
| Moodle | Yes | Also works |
| Schoology | Not available yet | Yes |
| D2L Brightspace | Not available yet | Yes |
| Blackboard Ultra | Not available yet | Yes |
| Google Classroom | Not available yet | Yes |
Native means the listen button is built into the LMS for every user, on any device with a web browser, with nothing installed on student devices. Via Chrome extension means each student has the ReadingVox extension in Chrome (your IT team can push it to every managed Chromebook at once).
Why these aren't native yet
D2L Brightspace
Brightspace has no admin setting for adding your own JavaScript to every page. Read-aloud tools like ReadSpeaker are enabled there through D2L as partner integrations, and ReadingVox doesn't have one yet.
Blackboard Learn Ultra
Ultra adds outside tools through LTI integrations rather than custom page scripts. A ReadingVox LTI integration isn't available yet.
Schoology
Schoology also adds outside tools through LTI integrations. A ReadingVox LTI integration isn't available yet.
Google Classroom
Classroom doesn't offer a way to add a reading tool to its pages for every user.
Native integrations for these platforms are on our roadmap. We don't have dates to share, and we won't list a platform as supported until it is.
Use the Chrome extension in your LMS
Deploy once from Google Admin
Force-install the extension to the OUs with your students, with your license key pushed by policy. Students then use ReadingVox in your LMS, Google Docs, and every other website they read.
Chrome extension install guideLimits of the extension route
- Only in Chrome on Chromebooks or computers. Not in LMS mobile apps, on iPads, or in other browsers.
- Content that the LMS shows inside an embedded frame may not be picked up; students can open it in its own tab.
- It's priced per student (see school pricing), and is mainly used by K-12 schools that manage Chromebooks.
